Pony Express Bullion didn't start as a business. It started as a collection.
For years I bought coins the way most collectors do — a proof Silver Eagle here, a graded piece there, a roll of junk silver when the price looked right. I initially gained interest in gold and silver just like anyone else who buys precious metals, and I began to realize that sovereign currencies that are only backed by credit lose value over time.
Pony Express Bullion came to fruition out of a passion for value, hedging, and protecting long-term capital.
What that means for you is simple: the inventory here isn't a case of wholesale product someone shipped me last week. Much of it is my own — pieces I chose, paid for, and held. I know what's in this catalog because I bought it.
How I got here
Before metals, I spent years in security management — running budgets, supervising teams, and dealing with the practical business of protecting things people care about. That work teaches you custody, chain of control, and how losses actually happen. It turns out to be unusually good preparation for handling other people's precious metals.
I'm currently completing an MBA in Finance at SMU's Cox School of Business and am a candidate at the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking.
I mention it for one reason. Valuing an asset, pricing risk, and being straight with someone about what a thing is worth is what I do every day. This business is that skill pointed at something I already cared about.
How we deal
Metals pricing is honest or it isn't, and most of the dishonesty happens in the gaps between what a dealer knows and what a buyer does. So:
We price against the market and we say so. When spot moves, our prices move — in both directions. Your price locks when you order.
We tell you what a coin is and what it isn't. A common-date proof is a common-date proof. If a piece is raw and ungraded, we say raw and ungraded. You'll never find a "rare" label doing work the coin can't.
Every piece is guaranteed authentic, with no time limit. If anything we sell is ever found not to be genuine, we refund it in full and pay the return shipping — no questions, no clock.
And we don't upsell. If bullion is what fits what you're trying to do, we'll point you at bullion, even though the numismatic pieces carry the better margin.
The name
In 1860, the Pony Express carried what mattered across two thousand miles on nothing but a schedule and a rider's word. It lasted eighteen months and lost money the whole time — but it moved the mail, and it moved it honestly. That's the part worth keeping.
Where to find us
